A profound statement that points to an unchangeable truth: all women have a deep inner wisdom and strength which knows how to bring life into this world. The society in which we live can at times make us forgetful of this knowledge, but it's there within us. It is my desire as a doula to help mothers trust in their innate ability to birth their babies. It is my goal to educate, strengthen and nurture women throughout pregnancy and birth so they can make their own decisions about what's best for them and their baby. Our birth experiences will stay with us forever, as mothers and children, and it is my wish for all mothers and babies to be blessed with a gentle birth. I am, of course, an advocate of natural childbirth, but I am there to support whatever decisions a mother makes. Not to be overlooked is my role in supporting fathers who may also be experiencing a range of emotions and concerns. In doing so I not only support the birth of a baby, but the birth of a mother, and the beginning of a family.
I am a homeschooling mother of five and I have been working as a doula for four years. I am DONA trained and a member of the Red Deer Doula Association. I have taken additional courses, including a specialized course in understanding the female pelvis. The best training I have received however has been in giving birth to my own five babies. My personal experiences have proven to be invaluable in offering support to families. I will meet with you several times, with each meeting being tailored to your unique needs. Together, we will learn about and discuss what will be most effective for you as far as comfort measures, optimum fetal and maternal positioning and as well as coping techniques. If you desire I will also assist you with your birth plan and explain your options. I look forward to meeting with you, learning from you, and supporting you as you embark on your personal journey.
